Deep Wisdom from Chinese Medicine: Restoring Love, Restoring Harmony.

One of the highlights for me this year is allowing myself to patiently immerse in healing for a respiratory issue that became somewhat chronic. A few months passed where I was not noticing any long-term change in my respiratory difficulty which involved allergies, indigestion and coughing.
In the later part of the year, I was introduced to two very talented acupuncturists who opened up in more depth for me the world of Chinese Medicine. While I have had experiences with TCM while I was residing in Singapore too, it may be that this time there was an inner openness to be a more keen reader and student of this healing wisdom. Within the space of one month my health was significantly recovered and I experienced a much higher level of energy. Resorting to my usual Self, I started looking for trusted sources of learning and found my first easy read on this: The web that has No Weaver by Ted Kaptchuk. This book fascinated me and captured my Systemic Soul: the part of me that has a keen eye for how systems work especially that of family, social, communal and national. In this book, it was about the body systems but the underlying premise was recognisable to me.
In what we call the modern world we have become habitual analysers: which means when we experience a problem we are looking for solutions to remove the issue. We try to look for the cause, we want to localise it, diagnose it quickly and then remove it or suppress the discomfort if we can't find a quick enough solution. If you pay attention, you will notice this as the ideology that underpins all our existing systems and if you notice your own mind movement enough, you may also be able to trace your thinking pattern that resembles this.
In this book which elaborates on the ancient, potent and time-tested deep healing ideology of Chinese Medicine, the premise is very far from this. When one is faced with an ailment or illness, the question is never about "What is wrong with this body, this system or this person?" and it is also never about "How to remove this or suppress this quickly?". The questions a good Chinese Medicine practitioner asks is always cyclical, circular, systemic and oriented towards RESTORATION. The questions sound more like these:
"What is insufficient in this body system?"
"What is depleted here?"
"What needs to be added or triggered to help the body come back into sufficiency?"
"What are the storms in this body that is bringing poor health and how do we ease the storms?"
If you enjoy poetry like me, then you would find these lines of questioning poetic, simple and yet deeply powerful and potent. In my immersion is Systemic Family Constellations and Eastern-Based Wisdom, I observe the same power and potency of working in this way.
In my own life, in the past, when faced with complex personal or work relationships, my own habitual thinking had been geared to looking for all that is wrong with the other person, with me or with the situation. It is not uncommon to arrive at short-sighted answers often with not much possibilities of a solution (especially in the current world of social media) such as: the person is mentally unwell, they are a narcissist, I feel traumatised and gaslighted, the external situation is too stressful, etc. From this angle as you can see we will most likely feel despair, hopeless or stuck with very limited answers.
In Systemic Family Constellations we have an opportunity to open the creative door of life's intelligence. Here we can witness our loved ones, the people in our life through the lense more closely resembling the ancient wisdom of : "What is in depletion here that I have not noticed before?" and from here we are offered a visibility into ourselves, the other person and into the relationship dynamic itself which in our habitual decoding of life issues and reliance only upon our cognition, we may have missed. Often when we are able to see with clarity driven by intuition, we begin to feel a stream of love flow through us that has the potential to bring restoration into very important relationships.
In 2026, I will be offering Integrated Systemic Family Constellations in the model of a certified training course in Jakarta & Bali. This course is my invitation to you to experience your life deeply, differently and one with much creative possibilities. This is open for ANYONE who wishes to explore this work in more depth and it is also open to all mental health, medical health and healing art professionals who wants to see the power and potency of working while we honour trans-generational elements.
If this moves you then you can explore this course in more depth and details here.
Meanwhile I wish you plenty of Restoration opportunities in the coming year.
